Native Cow Skull T-shirt Recon

I haven't really had the drive recently to keep up with this blog...just in a creative slump i suppose but randomly earlier in the week i decided to paint on an old tan shirt i had laying around.
It's always important to put something solid between your shirt when painting or drawing on it so it doesn't go through to the other side, it also make it much easier. Its also very smart to use fabric paint/pens so it wont come off when you wash it (or do what i do and never wash the shirts i paint unless absoulutly necessary)
Here is what i decided to paint up (i was randomly feeling southern i suppose). I decided it needed to be much smaller and a tank top since spring is coming so here is what i did.
I used one of my favorite tank tops as a template for the straps by tracing the sahpe of the top onto my over sized shit and just cut the lines....
i ended up with this (i later cut the neckline down more so it would look/fit better) Always remember to cut a little at a time because you can always cut more off but once you cut too much you are generally screwed.
To make it fit better i tried the shirt back on and pinned it on both sides to the size i wanted and simply sewed and (basically) straight line all the way from top to bottom. After that just cut the edges off making sure not to cut your new seam. I purposely didn't sew this inside out because i wanted the rough edges

...and here we have the final product :]

Had an old sweatshirt laying around, and i figured with it being cold and all i should pretty it up and make it wearable. I'm making it a sugar skull. I'll post it very soon when it's all done :D

DIY Spaghetti Scarf!

So first start off with some metal bangle bracelets and old t-shirts you have lying around, whatever colors suit you. These are brand new but i have had them forever and they don't fit...so what the hell, lets cut em up.
Just cut the entire shirt from the bottom to the armpits horizontally  into small strips. Make sure you cut the seamed bottom end off we won't use it. I cut about 15 strips of each color (white, grey, black) you need three sets of the same number of strips(5 white, 5 black, 5 grey...or however many colors you have)
after you have your pile of "noodles" stretch them out really tight, but careful not to rip the side seams, after cutting they can get kinda weak depending on how the shirt was sewn.
Next take one of you're bracelets and begin this process of looping on the "noodles" as so. This part is kinda hard to explain in words, its easier to show in person but I'll give it a shot. Take one end of a noodle under the bottom half of the bracelet, then bring it through the center of the bracelet and back over towards the other end of the noodle, lastly take the end and put it through the bottom of the noodle...... Yeah that probably makes no sense...hope the pic helps!
You keep up with the process till you have something like this. Put as many as you want on your bracelet just make sure you have the same number of noodles on each side and make sure you have enough noodles left to connect these two sides together.
Take one of your left over noodles and connect the two ends not connected to the bracelet, together. You can just tie both ends but just make sure you double knot. With mine I connected one of the sides the same way i did when we originally connected it to the bracelet, then tied the other end. (as seen in pic)
Almost done! Now we have it all connected and it's starting to look like an actual scarf...of sorts. I decided to take the rest of the scraps and noodle to make some fringe on with beads the bottom of the bracelet so its not so visible, but you can leave it like this if you want. Its all about personal preference!
and tada! the final result. I love it and believe it or not it's quite warm! :]

DIY Galaxy Print!

First off i would like to apologize for everything being bleach oriented. i promise you the my projects WILL eventually go outside of the limits of bleaching fabric...its just so easy and i bought a bunch for these 3 specific projects, but i digress. Here we have another find from salvation army $2 woop woop. Time to get crafty....
I started off the shirt with a layer of bleach splatters. i just dipped a toothbrush (i figure you understand not to use one that someone is planning on using...) in watered down bleach and just covered the whole shirt by flicking the bristles of the brush near the shirt surface. Now i recommend you practice this on another black cloth that you don't really care about before doing it on the final shirt, because depending on how far away you flick from the shirt...the look varies and that way you can choose what you think looks best without ruining your shirt (if you do mess up and get bleach where you don't want it, just simply cover it with black fabric paint.)
This is more or less what you will end up with. i made some big areas of bleach by accident but i decided i kinda likes the look and kept it, but you will probability prefer a lighter look. I also bleach out the collar on cuffs on the sleeves for an extra touch.
Next step is adding the color. Now i have seen a lot of different combination of colors online so this is another step i recommend you practice before doing work on your final project. I have seen a lot of people use orange reds and pinks also, but i decided just using purple and light blue works fine by my standard. I also have white and a fabric paint medium you mix with acrylic paint to make it stick to fabric better (found at any craft store). I watered down he mixture of each color and the medium so it didn't show up on the fabric super dark.
I decided to use a sponge to apply the color but you could also use the toothbrush method like we did with the bleach before...whatever floats your boat man. I just kinda randomly splotched on the purple and blue on the white spots and all around the t-shirt. There really isn't a right or wrong way to do it it all just depends on how you want it to look :]
after the blue and purple i splashed on some white with the tooth brush again, and used cu-tips to dot on some bolder bigger white spots. This is what i ended up with, and i love it !

 meep.

Dip Bleach Denim Button Up!

I had the bleach left over from the denim vest so i figured why not continue the trend!

I bought this old denim button up at salvation army for like 3 bucks, and lezbehonest it's very boring. i have noticed a lot of half dyed/bleached things in stores lately so i figured this would be perfect for it.

I dipped it in the bucket o bleach (and water) a little over half way up the shirt. now the height of the bleach is totally up to you but keep in mind the bleach will climb up the shirt almost an inch from the actual water line. I secured the thing with some clothespins to make sure it stayed put and i left it in for about half an hour.

and here we are, $3 in and i have a shirt you would pay $15 for at forever 21. WOOO!

DIY Bleaching Denim

I got this old out of style jean jacket for like 4 bucks, so i cut the sleeves off and decided to attack it with bleach and add my own touch.
I wrapped it and scrunched it up super tight and put rubber bands all around it to secure it
i let it sit in bleach and water for around 20mins but it all depends on how bleached out you want it. Most people say to do 2 parts for every 1 part bleach....but I'm impatient and i usually put more bleach in to get the job done.
I rinsed it with cold water really good then washed it, and this is what i cam up with. I am quite pleased :]
Adding an extra touch with studs and patches also makes it look fricken awesome. i used old studded belts and just took the studs off of them and went stud crazy.
and voila old turned new and wearable :D
